At the age of 89, Rhyn was able to conceive and execute this fine portrait of himself looking at a mirror in his studio. His work depicts a wise, thoughtful and determined man. The effect pronounced as it may be results, especially in how he designed his forehead. Just as important is the treatment of his eyes which have a penetrating stern look. An exceptional piece!
